Adaptive Modules Named as New VAR Sales Channel for Telit Mobile

Adaptive Modules to resell Telit IoT specialized SIMs as well the portfolio of value-added services

Telit, a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that Adaptive Modules will be reselling Telit Mobile connectivity and value-added services under their own brand. The agreement also includes Telit deviceWISE, which is an IoT Application Enablement Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering. With the move, Adaptive becomes a value added reseller (VAR) expanding the company?s current role of distributor of Telit modules.

Value-added services to be provided by Adaptive include M2M/IoT deployment management and troubleshooting offerings like Aware, Intelligence and Automation; connectivity solutions with enhanced performance and steering capabilities by the end customer; provisioning, configuration and management of mobile connectivity; automatic transfer of data between devices and the Cloud; and the ability to collect, and control the flow of bi-directional data transfers between devices and the Cloud.

Telit is evaluating reapplication of this model for other distributors in Europe. Adaptive was selected as the first application case to reposition and move up the value chain most importantly because of its focus on wireless, managing solutions for a variety of (end) user types. For example, in the UK, Adaptive designed a custom embedded computing IoT solution to monitor the consumables and supplies for vending machines that are well-known high street brand located in garage forecourts, informing the garage and the coffee company if there is a degradation in serviceability, cups sold, cleaning trends and other data to maintain the service to its customers.
?We?ve been marketing Telit?s comprehensive range of m2m modules for 4 years and Motorola M2M before its acquisition by Telit. We were aware of the Mobile services portfolio and the business opportunities it's enabling,? said Andrew Aslett, CEO & Owner of Adaptive Modules. ?Becoming a VAR was therefore a logical development and as such it allowed us to extend our offer and move into an expanding sector of the innovative IoT market.?

?This development demonstrates how the flexibility and power of Telit Connect network services and deviceWISE IoT platform can be employed by distributors looking to expand their value chain footprint up from just reselling m2m and IoT hardware,? said Sammy Yahiaoui, Director of Sales EMEA at Telit. ?Early adopters like Adaptive will be well ahead of the curve right away but particularly when we start marketing the company?s next-generation ?Cloud-ready? modules. Ultra-advanced mobile and data connectivity will be available right ?out-of-the-box?.?

We look forward to building on our position as market leaders with continual development in our software platform and increasing our service and value-adds to our channel customers.Philip Cole, Sales and Marketing Director, commented: We are excited to be moving on to the next stage in our company's development and expect to benefit from ECI's backing and knowledge of our sector. Company announces deal with leading coffee brand

Machine-to-Machine and Digital Signage specialists Amscreen have announced a new contract win with Coffee Nation, the self-service coffee brand. The deal will see the company?s M2M (Machine-to-Machine), wireless technology fitted to the firm?s 800 self-service units nationwide.

Amscreen M2M, an operating division within Amscreen, developed the technology that will see the units utilise Amscreen?s patented µWEAVE M2M platform, the technology that allows machines to ?talk? and send/collect data from one another via mobile networks and the internet.  The system will enable Coffee Nation to monitor its machines, which are installed in office, travel and retail environments nationwide. Due to the business model of the firm, which sees Coffee Nation own the machines but with retailers responsible for the stocking and cleaning of the units, the firm required a solution that monitored the machines in a timely, efficient and non-intrusive manner.

The µWEAVE telemetry system will scrutinise both stock and cleaning levels of the machines as well as sales data so that retailers can be invoiced accurately. The data will be fedback to Coffee Nation?s central management system enabling the firm to make instant decisions regarding maintenance, inventory and systems management.

The Coffee Nation deal comes at a busy time for Amscreen, with the firm having recently announced a range of M2M and Digital Signage wins with a range of clients including BP, Guardian newspapers and Powerleague.

Scott Martin CEO at Coffee Nation said ?Our business model is based on managing the maintenance of our machines, so we require a solution that allows information to be automatically uploaded to our central system inhouse. Amscreen?s technology, which operates over a GSM/GPRS network, fits the bill perfectly and allows us to respond to business challenges in an instant.?

Simon Sugar, CEO of Amscreen, added: ?We are pleased to have won this contract with Coffee Nation and believe that our technology offers the best solution available, particularly as they require instantly accessible information for a network that is spread far and wide throughout the UK.?

June 2008 - ZigBit 900 Launch

MeshNetics, a leading provider of ZigBee modules and embedded software for OEMs and system integrators, today at the Sensors Expo show in Rosemont, Illinois, announced its launch of the ZigBit 900, the worlds' first RF module for sub-1 GHz band that uses the ZigBee PRO Feature Set. The new IEEE 802.15.4-2006 module is designed to operate in the ISM bands 915 MHz in the US and 868 MHz in Europe.

The ultra-compact ZigBit 900 module features an exceptional sensitivity of -110 dBm and output power of 11 dBm that result in the line-of-sight range of up to 6,000m (over 3.7 miles). The power consumption stays at a remarkably low level: less than 6 µA in sleep mode, 11 mA in receive mode, and 26 mA in transmit mode, which translates into many years of battery life. The ZigBit 900 operates in the European ISM band from 863 to 870 MHz and in the North American ISM band from 902 to 928 MHz. The ZigBit 900 offers regional alternatives to the global 2.4 GHz band where the channel characteristics of the lower frequencies can result in performance advantages in certain environments.

"We are pleased to offer the worlds' first RF module for the 900 MHz band which reuses our 2.4 GHz BitCloud / ZigBee PRO Feature Set", said Alexey Rybakov, Managing Director of MeshNetics' ZigBit Business Unit. "We are committed to offering OEMs and system integrators the utmost flexibility for their ZigBee-enabled products and solutions, and now they can choose between 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz technologies. Along with our ability to offer hardware, software and engineering support from a single source, this is what makes MeshNetics the premier ZigBee House in the market."

The ZigBit 900 module ships with BitCloud?, a robust 802.15.4-2006/ZigBee PRO Feature Set used for all the 2.4 GHz MeshNetics modules. Supporting self-healing, self-organizing mesh networks and up to 1Mbit/s data rates, BitCloud stack optimizes network traffic while minimizing power consumption. Customers can choose between the C API for embedded application development and SerialNet?a ZigBee Manufacturer Specific Profile based on BitCloud? supporting a serial AT-command interface to ZigBit 900.

"We are actively working with other ZigBee Alliance members to enable interoperable and certified ZigBee applications for the sub-1 GHz frequency band", said Vasiliy Suvorov, CEO of MeshNetics. "ZigBee is experiencing tremendous growth across a wide variety of industries and we believe that sub-1 GHz solutions will further extend ZigBee's appeal and fuel its growth."

The ZigBit 900 module is based on Atmels' innovative hardware platform featuring AVR Microcontroller and the latest RF transceiver. The brand new AT86RF212 is a low-power, low-voltage transceiver designed specifically for low cost IEEE 802.15.4-2006, ZigBee, and high data rate ISM applications. The AT86RF212 boasts the best-in-class sensitivity combined with the very low power consumption. Its MAC and AES hardware accelerators improve overall system power efficiency and timing. The ZigBit 900 packs the MCU, RF transceiver and all the circuitry in just under half a square inch of space.

"We congratulate our partners at MeshNetics with being the first company to deliver RF modules for 900 MHz band paired with the ZigBee PRO Feature Set software", said Magnus Pedersen, Atmels' Director of Product Marketing MCU Wireless. "Atmels' industry-leading ZigBee hardware and MeshNetics expertise in module manufacturing and software create a winning combination for OEMs and system integrators that look to adding ZigBee capability to their products."
